Home Recovery

It's been a roller coaster of a recovery at home. Some moments have been good and Ryder has spurts of energy, but other moments have been not so good and Ryder's in pain and uncomfortable. We've had more sleepless nights than restful and we are all exhausted. Ryder hates his no-no's and nobody was getting any sleep with those suckers on so we decided to take them off. He's also been battling a fever for the past few days. Which is probably another reason why he's so miserable -- why we are all so miserable.

Ryder cannot get comfortable in his own crib and the only thing that seems to work is mommy holding him All. Night. Long.  I've tried numerous times to lay him down which just results in another hour of soothing and getting him to fall back asleep.  Even in my arms Ryder wakes up every 1-2 hours and just cries. It's heartbreaking. To say we are all exhausted is an understatement. We are running on fumes of energy and are praying things will get better....quick.

Ryder spent a few minutes playing with daddy. Love seeing glimpses of him being back to "normal."
Ryder's face throughout the majority of today.
How we sleep. Correction - how Ryder sleeps and how my ribs ache.
Not sure who's looking rougher - me or Ryder.
This morning, Ryder had small bumps all over his body (we noticed them yesterday but they weren't as bad) but today, they're everywhere. I spoke with his doctor and we have to stop one of his medications. The bumps are most likely an allergic reaction to his meds. He's still battling between a 101-102 fever and if he's not better by this afternoon, Ryder's doctor advised taking him into CHOC. We are trying to avoid that at ALL costs.
We've been trying to keep his fever down by keeping Ryder as cool as possible.
Since Ryder refuses to drink by syringe we've had to resort to popsicles as his form of liquid intake (whatever works.)  He's seems to have taken a major liking to otter pops (can you blame him?!) Otter pops have been on the menu for the past 12 hours.

In addition to otter pops, we have one sippy cups that seems to work.....but even then we are lucky if Ryder's gets 12oz of liquid in him a day.
To get Ryder out of the house we took him for a Target run (we also had to fill up on popsicles). Poor guy looks so miserable. We even bought us all Mickey t-shirts hoping we'll be wearing those, at Disneyland, soon.
Praying for continuous recovery today. I do NOT want to go back to CHOC! We all know CHOC means more pokes and IV's! Come on super Ryder. You can do it baby boy! Keep fighting, keep conquering, keep on, keep on swimming!
